Amazing building material - petrified trees

 The Philippines is a wonderful country and never ceases to amaze. Recently I saw a new building material petrified trees. Due to the fact that there is no forest for construction in the Philippines, locals found petrified trees and use them to build houses. 

petrified trees are mined on the island of Negros in open pits, they are washed from sand and silt, after which they are sawn and sent for sale. But since the wood has lost its color over many thousands of years, upon completion of construction, it is repainted in natural colors.
